Antique Japanese Hand Crafted Wood Headrest Pillow TAKAMAKURA

Used to support the head raised while sleeping, most often used by Geishas to protect their hairstyle.

Has age and usage related wear, with age related cracks, its been previously restored as shown in the photos. And I believe it used to have some pads on the legs to protect them, they feel a bit sticky. It has a lovely patina. Please see detailed photos for complete condition report

It has a stool shape but it is too low and a too small for a stool
